Meet Jeanette

For over 35 years, my family has resided in Chesapeake Beach. My husband and I are proud parents of two children who attended Calvert County schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. My career is in contracts and collections management working for a Union Electrical Contractor for the past 25 years. In my role as Contracts Manager, I oversee construction contracts and bidding processes, analyze costs, and track conformance to contract specifications. For the past 10 years, I have been actively involved in many community activities, from collecting food for local food banks to raising money for high school scholarships. In my leisure time, my husband and I enjoy boating and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay.

Being a member of the Board of Education will require a considerable commitment. This will include intensive training, preparation for and attendance at all Board meetings, meeting with County Commissioners, and attending school functions at all of our public schools. I am looking forward to learning everything I can and interacting with the school community.

I am running for the Board of Education because I want to support and promote the work that the Board has done so far and the future that the Blueprint has shown. Looking at the policies we have a great foundation for continued success with the Calvert County Public School system. I believe in the power and promise of Public Schools and believe every student should have an excellent education regardless of background, socioeconomic status or ability. In collaboration with other elected Board members I will advocate for equitable education; promote innovative teaching methods and technology; continue to review the policies to address the mental health challenges facing students and foster supportive policies; champion diversity and inclusion throughout the district and work to improve school infrastructure, ensuring adequate resources and address any disparities in school funding; and most importantly, I will work to strengthen the relationships between schools, students, teachers, support staff, parents, community members and elected officials so we are all working together for the benefit of our students.
